System compatibility

XGM3SB-4SF is dedicated expansion card for Extreme Summit X460 series switches and E4G-400 router. Summit X460 models include X460-24t, X460-24p, X460-48t, X460-48p. It installs in rear Slot B only. Supports SummitStack-V virtual stacking function. Compatible with Extreme original SFP+ transceivers and DAC cables. Built-in SyncE hardware provides telecom-grade clock synchronization for carrier and timing network.

Function

XGM3SB-4SF adds four independent 10G SFP+ high-speed ports to Summit X460 or E4G-400 router. Ports can be used as regular 10G uplink to core network, or configured as SummitStack-V stacking ports for equipment cluster. Integrated SyncE circuit enables clock transmission over 10G Ethernet links. It supports optical fiber and copper DAC twinax connections, suitable for enterprise aggregation, carrier timing network and data center uplink expansion.

Installation

Power off the Summit X460 / E4G-400 device and disconnect power cable. Wear ESD anti-static wrist strap. Remove blank slot panel, align XGM3SB-4SF card and slide fully into Slot B, tighten captive screws. Power on device, verify port detection and SyncE clock status via ExtremeXOS CLI.

DiagnosticCard undetected: Confirm full insertion and tight captive screws, reboot device, verify ExtremeXOS version meets minimum requirement. Stacking fail: Confirm ports are set to SummitStack-V mode, check stacking cable and peer device configuration. SyncE clock alarm: Verify clock source configuration, check timing signal quality on peer network device. Port flapping: Verify transceiver compatibility, check fiber attenuation or DAC cable damage.
