Products Description

Schneider Electric ATV1200 MV Drive Unit

Module Feature

ATV1200 is a legacy medium voltage variable frequency drive platform from Schneider Electric Altivar portfolio.

It adopts phase-shifting transformer and H-bridge power cell cascade structure, rated capacity ranges from 315kVA up to 16200kVA, supports 2.3kV / 3.3kV / 6kV / 10kV input voltage grades. The 18-pulse rectifier suppresses line-side current harmonic distortion, meets IEEE519 harmonic standard. It has independent dual-channel cooling air loops, isolated cabinet structure, built-in HMI touchscreen, redundant control option, and supports V/F control and vector control. This series has been discontinued, widely stocked as spare for large pumps, fans, compressors and conveyors in heavy process plants.

Working principle

Grid medium voltage feeds into the phase-shifting transformer with multiple secondary windings.

Each secondary winding supplies one low-voltage IGBT power cell. The series-connected H-bridge cells synthesize high-voltage adjustable frequency sine wave output. The main controller executes speed and torque regulation, monitors each cell voltage/temperature and triggers bypass function automatically when a single cell fails, improving system uptime.

Onboard components

Phase-shifting isolation transformer, IGBT power cell modules, main control processor board, touchscreen HMI, high voltage surge arresters, independent cooling fans, voltage/current sampling circuit, cell bypass mechanism.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate system power ready, running status, cell fault alarm, over-temperature and communication failure.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects cell fault, fuse blow, power supply sag, over-temperature, ground fault and communication timeout. Detailed fault codes and cell status can be checked on the local HMI panel.

Programming software

Schneider dedicated MV drive commissioning tool, used for motor auto-tune, parameter setting, harmonic monitoring, fault log export and drive maintenance calibration.
