TC2000SIM Temperature Signal Simulator Unit

Module Feature

TC2000SIM is a high-precision temperature signal simulation module supporting thermocouple and RTD resistance simulation. It works together with TC2000 dry-block temperature calibrator, outputs adjustable millivolt signal for TC and precision resistance for platinum RTD. Built-in cold junction compensation function, resolution up to 0.01℃ equivalent value. It can simulate multiple failure states such as open circuit and short circuit for instrument loop fault test. Compact handheld / bench design, widely used for periodic calibration of temperature transmitters, DCS AI modules, safety SIS temperature loops in chemical, power and refinery instrument workshop.

Working principle

Digital control circuit generates stable adjustable low voltage millivolt signal to simulate thermocouple thermal electromotive force, or precise resistance value to simulate RTD sensor. It uploads simulated temperature value and status to host calibrator via communication interface. The signal is fed to the transmitter or I/O module under test, and the reading comparison verifies instrument accuracy. Open/short fault simulation is used to verify the self-diagnosis function of the instrument loop.

Onboard components

Precision reference voltage source, digital resistance array, cold junction compensation sensor, MCU control core, communication interface, adjustment keypad, LCD indicator, terminal block and plastic housing.

LED indicators

LCD display shows simulated temperature value, TC/RTD type, output resistance / mV value, fault simulation status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects reference drift, output open circuit, communication failure. Regular verification relies on standard reference thermometer and resistance box. Configuration and calibration management are completed by TCCal calibration management software.

Installation

Power off the device under test before signal injection. Select correct thermocouple type or RTD specification, set target simulation temperature, enable cold junction compensation, compare DCS/transmitter reading and record calibration error after commissioning.

Interface

Two-wire / three-wire / four-wire RTD terminal, thermocouple mV output terminal, communication port to TC2000 calibrator host.

Diagnostic

Reading deviation: Wrong sensor type selection, cold junction compensation error. No output: Power loss, wiring open. Unstable signal: Poor terminal contact, electromagnetic interference.
