Yokogawa YFGW710 Field Wireless Gateway Unit

Module Feature

YFGW710 is Yokogawa integrated field wireless gateway complying with ISA100.11a industrial wireless standard.

It combines four core functions: gateway, backbone router, system manager and security manager inside one unit, suitable for small-scale wireless instrument networks. It supports RJ45 copper Ethernet and SC fiber uplink interface, Modbus/TCP protocol to communicate with DCS or SCADA. It can manage maximum 50 ISA100 field transmitters. This model was discontinued from 2016, still widely stocked as spare for legacy CENTUM VP control systems in process plants.

Working principle

Wireless field instruments send measurement data via ISA100.11a radio signal to YFGW710.

The gateway performs network scheduling, security authentication and data aggregation, then converts wireless data into Modbus/TCP packets and uploads to host control system. It also distributes parameter download commands and synchronization signals from upper system down to wireless field devices.

Onboard components

Main control board, ISA100 RF radio module, N-type antenna interface, Ethernet copper transceiver, fiber optical transceiver, 24VDC power circuit, status indicator panel, sealed aluminum enclosure, surge protection assembly.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power supply, wireless network running, uplink communication, network fault and security alarm status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects radio communication loss, uplink link down, device offline count, over-temperature and internal hardware error. Fault information can be checked via web page or wireless configuration tool.

Programming software

Yokogawa Field Wireless Management Tool, used for network commissioning, device join authorization, communication parameter setting, log review and fault diagnosis.

Installation

Install the unit at open area with good radio propagation, keep away from large metal barrier and high-power frequency equipment.

Connect 24VDC power, Ethernet or fiber uplink cable, screw on matched antenna, finish network commissioning and device access authorization.

Interface

N-type antenna port, RJ45 100BASE-TX port, SC 100BASE-FX fiber port, 24VDC power terminal block, grounding terminal.

Diagnostic

Wireless device cannot join network: Wrong network ID, security key mismatch or radio signal shielding.

No Modbus data upload: Uplink cable broken, IP address conflict or Modbus register mapping error.

Gateway offline: 24V power loss, surge damage or internal RF module failure.
