Module Feature

1600/3200A is a large-frame low voltage moulded case circuit breaker.

The frame rating is 3200A while the configured rated current is 1600A, fitted with adjustable electronic trip unit. It supports long-time overload, short-time delay and instantaneous short-circuit protection. It can be equipped with communication module, local/remote operation motor, auxiliary and alarm contacts. It is widely used as spare for factory main distribution switchgear, data center bus tie and large power load feeder cabinets.

Working principle

Built-in current transformers sample three-phase current signals and send data to the electronic trip unit.

The trip processor compares real-time current with preset protection thresholds. When overload or short-circuit fault is detected, the trip unit outputs release signal to the mechanical operating mechanism, rapidly separating the main contacts to isolate the fault circuit and protect downstream busbars, cables and electrical loads. It records fault current and event time stamp for troubleshooting.

Onboard components

Current transformer group, electronic trip controller, main contact assembly, arc extinguishing chamber, motor operating mechanism, energy storage spring, manual operating handle, communication option slot and heavy-duty metal housing.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power ready, pre-alarm, fault trip and communication status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Internal self-check monitors CT signal, trip unit power supply and relay circuit integrity. Protection thresholds can be configured via front panel or supporting software.

Programming software

Vendor dedicated VFD/protection configuration software, used for protection curve setting, communication parameter configuration and fault log reading.

Installation

Cut off upstream high-level power supply before replacement.

Install breaker on switchgear bus bar support, connect incoming and outgoing power cables, wire motor charging, auxiliary contact and communication wiring, configure protection curve parameters, test closing, opening and tripping function after commissioning.

Three-phase main power terminals, motor charge terminals, auxiliary & alarm contact terminals, communication port.

Diagnostic

Overload trip: Load current exceeds long-delay setting value. Instantaneous short trip: Severe short-circuit fault on load side. Trip unit communication failure: Trip board damage or wiring loose.
