Siemens 6DS1408-8AA Teleperm M S Regulator Module Unit

Module Feature

6DS1408-8AA is a rack-mounted analog regulator module belonging to the old Siemens Teleperm M DCS platform.

It is also named S-Reglerbaugruppe. It executes PID closed-loop regulation for temperature, pressure and flow process loops. It is designed for installation inside Teleperm M standard racks and communicates via the rack backplane bus. This model is end-of-life and no longer produced, mainly supplied as spare replacement for existing power station and chemical plant DCS cabinets.

Working principle

The module receives analog measurement signals from field transmitters through rack backplane.

It compares the process value with the setpoint, calculates PID output and sends the regulating signal to final control elements. It continuously monitors loop deviation and internal module status, and sends fault and alarm messages to the Teleperm operator station.

Onboard components

Analog signal conditioning circuit, PID logic processor, backplane bus interface, threshold alarm circuit, front status panel and printed circuit board assembly.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power, module OK, loop alarm and fault status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in monitoring for internal power supply and signal channel integrity. Loop parameters are configured via Teleperm engineering software.

Programming software

Teleperm M engineering tool, used for PID parameter setup, loop configuration and alarm assignment.

Installation

Cut off rack power supply before replacement.

Insert module into Teleperm M rack slot, lock front fasteners, confirm backplane bus contact, download loop configuration, verify PID regulation and alarm function after commissioning.

Diagnostic

Module fault: Internal power failure or circuit damage. Loop unstable: Improper PID gain setting or noisy process signal. No communication: Backplane bus contact poor or module address error.
