3M MP8790 XGA Projector Unit

Module Feature

MP8790 is a portable XGA multimedia projector manufactured by 3M. It adopts LCD projection imaging structure, native XGA 1024×768 resolution. It supports multiple signal input sources including VGA, composite video, S-Video and audio channel. Built-in speaker, keystone correction, picture-in-picture function and RS232 serial control interface. Optional wireless network module for wireless presentation. Widely stocked as spare for conference room, training room and industrial site presentation equipment.

Working principle

Light source lamp generates high brightness light, which passes through LCD optical panel. RGB image signal drives LCD pixel array to modulate light, optical lens projects enlarged image onto screen. Built-in signal decoding circuit identifies different video input formats and outputs audio signal to internal speaker. Internal temperature sensor and lamp timing circuit monitor lamp service life and overheat condition.

Onboard components

Projection lamp, LCD optical assembly, optical lens, signal processing board, audio amplifier, cooling fan, control panel and metal plastic composite housing.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power, lamp status, temperature alarm and standby status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Unit monitors lamp runtime, internal temperature and fan running status. Image and audio parameters can be adjusted via local menu.

Programming software

3M projector control software, used for RS232 remote control, source switching and parameter setting.

Installation

Place projector on flat desktop or fix to ceiling bracket, connect video and audio signal cable and AC power cord, focus and adjust keystone, test image output and audio playback after commissioning.

Diagnostic

No image: Lamp burned out, signal source not selected or input cable open. Overheat alarm: Fan blocked or air filter clogged. No communication: RS232 wiring wrong or baud rate mismatch.
