Products Description

ABB AC800PEC Controller Unit

Module Feature

800PEC (AC800PEC) is ABB ControlIT series high-performance dedicated controller for power electronic control. It integrates high-speed DSP/FPGA core, and can run fast PWM, vector control, grid synchronization and fault protection algorithms with cycle time down to 100μs. It supports two development modes: standard IEC61131-3 programming via Control Builder M, and model-based design by MATLAB/Simulink auto-code generation. It adopts modular architecture, can be equipped with analog sampling, pulse output, encoder and digital I/O modules. High-speed optical communication interface is used for interconnection with PCS6000 medium voltage converters. It has strong anti-interference performance and is widely used in wind power converters, photovoltaic energy storage inverters, locomotive traction converters, HVDC light and metal rolling mill main drive systems.

Working principle

The controller samples voltage, current and position signals in real time, executes closed-loop control algorithm, outputs optical pulse signals to drive power semiconductor modules. It simultaneously completes slow process logic, interlock protection, data recording and upper communication tasks. When fault conditions such as overcurrent, overvoltage or overheating are detected, it quickly blocks drive pulses and sends fault information to HMI or SCADA system.

Onboard components

Main CPU & DSP control board, FPGA pulse logic board, high-speed optical communication interface, analog sampling module, digital I/O board, power supply unit, backplane bus.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power, controller run status, fiber link, fault alarm and communication activity.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Continuous self-diagnosis covers fiber link break, sampling channel anomaly, I/O fault, CPU watchdog, power supply abnormality and module mismatch. Fault codes and waveform records are stored internally.

Programming software

Control Builder M, MATLAB/Simulink with real-time workshop, used for algorithm modeling, logic programming, parameter download and oscilloscope data capture.
