Module Feature

ELEMENTS is the universal modular transmitter platform developed by Endress+Hauser. It supports multiple measurement variables including gauge pressure, absolute pressure, temperature, liquid level and differential pressure. It features uniform mechanical and electronic architecture, interchangeable sensor modules, HART communication protocol, optional local LCD display and configurable 4-20mA analog output. Compact housing, corrosion resistant process connections are available for different process media. It is widely adopted in chemical, water treatment, food & beverage and energy process monitoring.

Working principle

The sensor element converts physical process variable into weak electrical signal. The onboard electronic unit performs signal conditioning, temperature compensation and A/D conversion, then outputs standardized 4-20mA signal with HART digital overlay. The measured value can be displayed locally, and parameters such as range, damping and tag can be configured via HART handheld communicator or upper software.

Onboard components

Sensor sensing element, signal processing electronics, HART communication chip, LCD display module (optional), process connection housing, sealing assembly.

LED indicators

LED status indicator shows power supply and fault alarm on the transmitter housing.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Continuous built-in diagnostics. Detects sensor failure, signal out of range, electronics fault and power anomaly, and sends alarm via HART status bit.

Programming software

Endress+Hauser FieldCare software, used for range setup, tag configuration, diagnostics and firmware update.

Installation

Mount the transmitter at suitable tapping point, install shut-off valve and manifold for pressure types. Use shielded two-wire cable, complete zero and span calibration after installation. Check seal integrity periodically.

Interface

Process thread/flange connection, two-wire power and signal terminal, HART communication port.

Diagnostic

Fixed low/high reading: Sensor blocked, zero drift or damaged sensing element. No communication: Loop power missing, cable open or short. Fault alarm: Internal electronics failure or sensor breakage.
