Schneider MVS16H Air Circuit Breaker Unit

Module Feature

MVS16H belongs to Schneider EasyPact MVS series low voltage air circuit breaker. It has 1600A frame current and H breaking grade, Icu=65kA@400V. It supports both fixed and withdrawable drawout versions, matched with ET2 / ET5 electronic trip units. It provides LSI protection including long-time overload, short-time delay and instantaneous short-circuit protection. It can be equipped with optional motor charging, auxiliary contacts and communication module. It is widely used in factory main distribution cabinets, power station auxiliary power cabinets and commercial high-current power distribution systems.

Working principle

Current transformers sample three-phase current signals and send data to the electronic trip unit. When the operating current exceeds the protection threshold, the trip unit releases the operating mechanism, separates the main contacts and cuts off the fault circuit. It stores fault records locally and supports data uploading to power monitoring system via communication module.

Onboard components

Main contact assembly, arc extinguishing chamber, spring operating mechanism, CT group, ET electronic trip unit, auxiliary contact block, status indicator, optional motor charging assembly and communication board.

LED indicators

Front LEDs indicate power status, spring charged state, trip alarm and communication link.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Built-in supervision detects trip unit power loss, CT circuit failure, internal over-temperature and communication interruption. Fault information can be viewed on local display or EcoStruxure Power software.

Programming software

Schneider EcoStruxure Power Commissioning Tool, used for protection parameter setting, diagnostic checking and fault log analysis.

Installation

Install the breaker into switchgear compartment or drawout chassis. Tighten primary bus terminals, test mechanical interlock, protection trip and communication function before energizing.

Primary power connection terminals, secondary control terminals, communication port.

Diagnostic

Spontaneous tripping: Improper protection setting, CT wiring error or transient interference. Unable to close: Spring not charged, control power missing or interlock locked. Communication drop: Damaged cable or inconsistent network configuration.
