Square D MGA36800 PowerPact M MCCB Unit

Module Feature

MGA36800 belongs to Square D PowerPact M frame moulded case circuit breaker series. It is 3-pole design with LI thermal-magnetic trip unit, supports overload long-delay protection and instantaneous short-circuit protection. Rated frame current 800A, 600VAC rated voltage, Icu 65kA at 480V. Adopts I-Line plug-in connection structure for fast installation and replacement. Optional accessories include auxiliary contacts, alarm switch and shunt trip. Widely stocked as spare for industrial LV switchgear, commercial building distribution and data center feeder cabinets.

Working principle

Built-in thermal and magnetic sensing elements continuously monitor three-phase load current. Thermal element triggers inverse-time trip for overload protection. Magnetic element responds rapidly to large short-circuit current and separates main contacts instantly to isolate fault. Auxiliary contacts feed back breaker ON/OFF and trip status signals to PLC or SCADA system.

Onboard components

Thermal magnetic trip unit, main contact assembly, arc quenching chamber, spring operating mechanism, I-Line plug-in bus connector, operation handle and reinforced insulated housing.

LED indicators

Front mechanical indicators show ON, OFF and trip status.

Hardware self‑diagnosis

Passive thermal-magnetic trip unit, no electronic self-diagnosis. Protection curve is fixed by trip unit rating.

Programming software

Not applicable, no configuration software required.

Installation

Cut off upstream power supply before replacement. Align breaker with I-Line bus bar and push into locked position, install control wiring for auxiliary or shunt accessories if fitted, test closing, opening and trip function after commissioning.

Interface

I-Line plug-in main power terminals, auxiliary / alarm contact terminals, shunt trip terminals.

Diagnostic

Overload trip: Load current exceeds thermal trip threshold. Instant short trip: Short-circuit fault on downstream cable or load. Cannot latch: Internal mechanism damaged or trip lock engaged.
